Little acts of kindness

New Zealand to welcome Superyacht Captains Forum JoomlaThe other day I was pissed off about people being inconsiderate. Today, I would like to acknowledge the opposite: a small act of kindness.

It's the little things that matter

Sometimes I spend so much emotional energy getting annoyed at the shitty things people do that I forget that it's not all bad. Whenever I come across someone being considerate, polite or just, you know, nice it surprises me. But I try not to take it for granted. Sometimes it's just a small act of kindness that reminds me that people aren't all shitty all the time. There is some hope for humanity after all. So what was this small act of kindness that warranted a mention? Well, I was about to buy someting from the local corner shop and there was only one till open. There was a guy in front of me with a basket full of stuff. I went and stood behind him in the queue, but when it was his turn to go up to pay, he noticed that I only had one item and gestured for me to go ahead first. That was it. That was the one small act of kindness that I very much appreciated. I thanked him, of course. It's nice to be nice, eh? And it's nice when people are nice.
